I'm interested in knowing if companies that handle or store hazardous chemicals are worried about their upcoming need to comply with EPA's Risk Management Program regs.
These regs contain specific reqts for emegrgency response, release prevention and use of a management system (in addition to other eqts) that could be a first step towrds ISO-14001. I've been doing a lot of work with these types of companies, but none (to my knowledge) have yet made this leap in logic/commitment.
I wonder why that is?
Jon

We here in the states are slow to catch on to th evalue of these things. I think there is an overall fear factor that must be overcome. That and so much "incorrect" info floating around that must be overcome. Its a standard I truley believe in, and I honestly believe it has a financial payback. have been working with some experts in the UK that have me chomping at the bit to get my teeth into a project over here....if only as a show piece of what can be done with it.

More on risk management...have given this much thought Jon and ....actually what I should have said to be more clear was 14K places the emphasis on the prevention of the spills first, then addresses the clean up if the system fails. Where risk management says, Ok.. you got a spill now what? Hopefully once a good EMS is in place the spill won't happen....
