We have several pieces of equipment we use in our mfg that could best be described as "jigs or fixtures". These items do not have any drawings to identify them because they are a modification of a purchased item. In order to control these things, I have assigned each a unique equipment I.D. number and then taken a Digital photograph of the item. The photo gets identified with the same number and the jpeg file is part of the document control system. Does this seem O.K.? Suggestions.

As long as you document your method of control you are ok.....as in are the fixtures rev controlled or date controlled, etc....your choice

used this method several times with no problems as long a as it is documented.
