APQP- Advanced Product Quality Planning is the method of defining and managing a project in the Automotive industry as defined by the US Big 3 automotive companies (GM, Ford and Daimler Chrysler) it is described in the booklet Advanced Product Quality and Control Plan published by Automotive Industry Action Group
There are similar tools used by other countries and companies e.g Nissan and Renault use one standard called "Alliance New Product Quality Procedure" (ANPQP) derived from APQP
It is composed of the following five stages:
- Plan and Define the Program
- Product Design and Development Verification
- Process Design and Development Verification
- Product and Process Validation
- Feedback, Assesment and Corrective Action
