(1) (also discrete data) can be described as the number of times something happens or not and is therefore an integer quantity. Attribute data cannot be logically subdivided; you cannot have 0.4 Of a ‘defect’.
(2) data arising by classifying the individual outcomes of a process into two or more categories or by counting the number of occurrences per unit of time, area or volume.
