interim actions are ‘temporary short term’ actions taken until a permanent
corrective action is defined, implemented and verified. The
danger of many interim corrective actions is that they are considered to be a permanent solution to the
problem. It must be remembered that they are typically ‘band-aids’. It is a mistake to view containment actions as
a solution to the problem. Containment actions
typically address the effect. They
should be
considered ‘immediate first-aid’ to be reviewed and removed as quickly as
possible.
