We need to consider this question and perspective: What type of organization is likely to lead the way in the 21st century?
A traditional organization has multiple reviews of information, whereas a lean organization minimizes the number of meetings.
A traditional organization has hierarchical review process, whereas lean drives accountability to where action can be taken.
A traditional organization has many different systems, all trying to accomplish the same thing, whereas lean drives common systems and processes.
Traditionally, we work only for the benefit of our individual units, whereas lean optimizes the system for the good of the entire enterprise.
In other words, a traditional organization pushes work through the system, whereas a lean organization uses pull in their administrative systems, as well as in plants.
