Hi, there,

Is there anybody who could give me some information on Appearance Approval Report of PPAP? A sample would be appreciated.

Thanks.

This is only for a part defined as an appearance item.
I have only ever completed one and it contained details of the color measurement of plastic resin that I received from the supplier.
If you need the form it is here
Partcertall_6.15 3rd ed constants.xls
and probably in other files as well, note that there is a different file for DCX and Ford/GM

Hello Howard,

Thank you for your information.

I had this type of form in my file, however the challenge is how to fill out the form. I checked the PPAP package our suppliers provided us with, you know, they just filled in the first three rows on the form, and left the others blank.

:thanx:

Roy,
Is your part an appearance part?
If so there is a requirement with this to complete the form makes more sense.

If it is for color then the data is defined, if graining the also according to some standard.

Some people put this form in all PPAP's to show thgat they have not forgotten it even though it is not needed.

Not an appearance part.

Anyway I talked to our customer today, they answered me by saying that AAR is required according to Level 1, PPAP Manual, 3rd Edition. We usually skip the AAR or fill "N/A" there.

Thank you, Howard.

AIAG PPAP Manual, 3rd Edition: "Level 1 - Warrant only (and for designated appearance items, an Appearance Approval Report) submitted to the customer"

If there are no "designated appearance items" the AAR is not required, and serves no purpose.

Exactly this is an example of not reading the instructions and this becoming a "truth"
I hate it when people do not use common sense!!

There should be something on the print defining the surface finish requirements (ie: Ra, Rz, ....) or texture requirements (xxxxxx) including what draft angles are required to release from the mold in the case of plastic injection molding.

They are looking for who did the texturing and to what standard.
