How is APQP flowed down to sub-tier suppliers in the automotive industry?

How is APQP flowed down to suppliers in the automotive industry? Could someone provide an example? I have been notfied that potential contract may have the APQP (We're not automotive) requirements which we will have to flow down to our sub-teirs (also on a side note who does the APQP effect, crtical suppliers or COTS).

If your customer is non-automotive and has adopted the automotive standards, you'll need to get your information from the customer, as there's no telling what they require. Get it in writing!

I did get an advance look and the customer states that our critical subtier suppliers shall submit APQP timing chart, APQP supporting documentation e.g., Process flow charts, DFMEA, Gage study, FAI, PFMEA, control and reaction plans.

My concern is that I may have suppliers that will refuse the APQP requirements based on the amount of product that will be purchased. How should cases like this be handled?

You'll have to negotiate terms with your customer, assuming you have suppliers who flatly refuse to comply.
