Help with PPAP Level 3 for a small company! Machined parts

Hello dear experts!

My name is Revsul and lives in Sweden. I employed at a small business with only 8 employees. We supply mainly machined parts to customers whose clients in its turn come from the automotive industry.
Now to my question. I am responsible for quality issues at the company and recently some of our customers asked for a PPAP from us. I'm no expert in TS, but can a bit about it. I was commissioned by my boss to produce a PPAP at Level 3. I know that PPAP as a whole comprises 18 points, but I wonder if any of you who have built a PPAP system for a small company as we are have any tips /suggestions or examples that you have done. What parts should I bring and in what extent. As I said we are not the direct suppliers to the automotive industry and we only produce details, not design or construct them.

I you are not supplying parts PPAP is not relevant to you!
PPAP refers to PARTS only.
Please try to discuss this with your customers

Tanks Howard for you reply!

We are supplying parts indirectly to the final customer within automotive industry. The most of our parts are only repackad by our customers and then directly supplied to end customer. That's because they asked us to prepare a PPAP so that they escape to do it themself. They are prepared to pay a very small fee for that service.

Leaving aside whether we should have PPAP or not, and assume that we should create a system for PPAP for our small company, with the conditions I described earlier, which elements of PPAP, we should take with, what scape and how would you proceed to prepare the first PPAP. Someone who wants to share their experience / knowledge, I would be really, really grateful.

PPAP involves many activities, Are you familiar with APQP, DFMEA, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, Control Plans, etc.? PPAP is not something you just do. It is the result of completing the activities that I've just mentioned. There is a lot of information available here at The Cove Forums, but I would recommend formal training.

Stop X-bar/R Madness!!

If you are doing precision machining to process your parts, you will need to go a step further. You will need to use correct SPC to control your process - not X-bar-R; you will need to use capability calculations that are based on the uniform distribution, and you will likely have to explain why that is the case to your customer - as they will not likely understand it. Otherwise, your data will be affected by so much error from sampling and measurement error that your evidence of process control and capability will be pretty much useless. See Statistical process control for precision machining
