AAR (Appearance Approval Report) with general note for Grain

Supplier submitted PPAP for a Strap made of TPO black, 1.3 mm thick. We have a note on our print that says:
“One side smooth (No Grain), Opposite side textured”.

Is this considered a grain requirement? Should I be concerned with the Appearance Approval Report, because we are calling out one side smooth and one side grain???? Should I have them prove this out in any way?

In the absence of a measurable specification, I think I would handle it on the dimensional report and let it go at that. Usually when grain or texture is specified there's reference to some kind of standard, such as Mold-Tech plaques for plastics. This assumes that there aren't any other appearance requirements on the print such that an AAR is required anyway. If that's the case, you would just say that the specification is "one side textured" and give the result as "one side textured."
