Plating Supplier PPAP Revalidation Requirements - A-Coat GM 9984132 Plating Process

Just over a year ago we had our plating supplier PPAP their plating process for A-Coat GM 9984132. They struggled through the whole process because they never did it before, but they were able to submit a full PPAP. Now they are doing the same A-Coat for a new program.

Because it is over a year old, should I require them to revalidate every test in the GM Specification? Or is there abbreviated method that is acceptable for coating suppliers that are initially proved out?

In general, material and performance test reports in PPAP submissions should be no more than 12 months old. An exception could be made for material if it was purchase more than 12 months previous to submission, but there will probably have to be new test reports in the PPAP for the new program. You might be able to get some relief from the customer. If you do, get it in writing.
