Agreement for allowance for visual criteria after submission

Would a customer sign off on an instruction be an acceptable method of allowance for visual criteria? The customer does not want to issue a deviation nor a print change but is OK with the visual criteria. We have the understanding that an email is not a contract therefore it is not acceptable so we have pushed for deviations and print updates.

Also, if the visual criteria is submitted with PPAP would this be enough?

Your customer's answers to both of those questions is what will rule the day.

If they say yes to both...you're done. Just have {someone authorized to do so} say "Yes" in writing.
