SAE OASIS Database - December 2021 Status Launch of OASIS v3

We are fast approaching the 10,000[sup]th[/sup] certificate in OASIS. Actually, I suggested to SAE (the OASIS keeper) that we should have a commemorative event to celebrate that.

The other day I heard that the "eventual" number of aerospace suppliers, expected to be listed in the database, would reach 30,000. Seems too high to me. However, we are expected to see a flowdown of 9100 certification through the aerosupply chain.

NOTE: This post is from 2008. Sidney has updated the thread so I have changed the discussion thread title.

Re: OASIS database: approaching the 10,000th certificate

Sidney,

I don't know. If DoD buys into use of the next revision of AS9100 and flows it down to suppliers and sub-tiers it could happen.

Re: OASIS database: approaching the 10,000th certificate

And the Defense Sector is actively involved with the 9100 re-write document. They (IAQG) are also trying to get NATO to accept AS/EN9100 and ICOP certification as part of their AQAP regulations.

You are right: if major Defense contractors start flowing down 9100 certification to their suppliers, 30,000 certified suppliers in five years or so, is not so far fetched...

I know I have about 100 of our suppliers on our watch list. It's nice to be able to check on OASIS and re-qualify a supplier based on the certificate.

The monitoring of a supplier solely based on it's certification status in OASIS is discouraged by AS9100 itself.

Re: OASIS database: approaching the 10,000th certificate

Then why force the supplier to get the certificate if it cannot be used to monitor the supplier?
