AS 9100 Revision C Transition and Recertification Audit

Just completed our recert and transition audit to Revision C of AS 9100. Four and half days for a company with 50 employees seemed like a bit much. But the team worked well together and was able make it through the week without any nc's. In general, following the guidelines and information from AS 9101D made all the difference in the world. it was very helpful in understanding where the auditor was headed in each of the clauses during the audit.:magic:

Now I am transitioning to a new industry, so there will be other challenges to say the least. I have moved to the heavy construction industry building Boom Trucks and back to ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System.:)

Re: AS 9100 Revision C Tranisition and Recert Audit

Congrats for your successful upgrade to revision C. Now should be a piece of cake with your ISO struggle.
Did you use checklist from AS9101D appendix A (OER) to support your internal audit requirements?
Thanks in advance.

No I did not, however the Auditor suggested that I use them going forward.

Congrats on the AS9100 transition job. Your next challenge sounds interesting. "Heavy Metal" comes to mind.

Congratulations....

Q. Was it the monster under the bed that you were expecting or did you have a seasoned auditor that knew the process that guided you you thorough the process.

I have heard that Registrar, Consultants and numerous seminar have painted AS9100 Rev C as a huge monster with teeth and blood dripping from the edge of their mouth - ready to rip you apart.

Share with the cove your beginning expectations... we know the end:D

Congratulations..

I went through that at the end of Aug - first of Sept. I was lucky to have an experience auditor so the audit went fairly smooth. We had minor findings.

Still waiting on the review committee to review the audit and sent us our certs. I was told that the review committee was behind on reviewing the upgrade audits by about 60+ days.

Has anyone one else heard of this?

Well, speak of the devils and they answer. Right after I posted that last post about the review committee, I got the certificate of Registration.

I have a question and wasn't sure exactly who to ask. We will be going for our Re-certification in January.
Right now we are going through retraining for our Internal auditor with and outside consultant which has led to a number of corrective actions. My question is can we have corrective actions open as long as they are in process of... or do they need to be closed and if not would this lead to us not being in compliance and not getting our recert?

Thank you for any help with this.

While there is no requirement that states that all internally observed NC's must be resolved, there is always a RISK for some of the issues to be also uncovered during the CB audit. If the CB triggers any NC during your transition audit, you will have to implement corrective actions and the issue must be CLOSED before the CB issues your new certificate.

Also, keep in mind that the IAQG Supplemental Rules Document requires you (the registrant) to declare the organization ready for the transition audit. I would believe that your internal audit process to ascertain your readiness status is a very important component of your self evaluation.
