Would my AS 9110 certificate lapse due to non availability of auditors ?

Here is the problem - we are due for a survellience audit in August. Two times now we scheduled an auditor and two times the auditor vacated the position. Now we have no one and NSF doesn't have anyone available and is even going so far as asking our Manager if they want to be an auditor for AS9110!

What kind of issues will we have if the certificate lapses? Is there another option for us? Business is very slow at this time but we still need to keep current!

I know a very good, very experienced AS9100 auditor/consultant in the Akron, OH area. If you are interested, send me a private message and I can forward his contact info to you. Don't know his availability, offhand, but I am sure he could be able to help you out.

He specializes in all the several derivatives of AS, including AS9110.
I believe the OP is saying that his registrar can not perform the audit for the lack of a qualified AS9110 auditor. I don't think the OP needs help from a consultant.

To the OP, I would say, the registrar is responsible for having the necessary resources to maintain the certification programs they signed up for. If they are not able to perform the audit for lack of an authenticated AS9110 auditor, and your organization loses business for that, you should be entitled to financial compensation.

An option is for you to transfer your certification to another AS9110 accredited registrar. They might be able to accommodate your schedule, but the short notice is definitely a challenge. There are few AS9110 qualified auditors out there.

Good luck.

As was stated before, contact other registrars to see if they can help.
Also I have heard of situations when the registrar was threatened with a lawsuit due to nonperformance of the contract.
Management of the registrar then got the message and satisfied the customer.

The industry doesn't make it easy to transfer with such schemes as AS and TS. The client has to pay a second OASIS fee and also an extra visit - all despite the fact that the CB dropped the ball with poor service. It's a shame that some clients are "locked in" with poorly performing suppliers, when they should be allowed - in cases of poor service - to do this transfer at the cost to the CB who defaulted! (Without recourse to courts).

You may not have much choice but to seek another Certification Body and you need to start exploring your options IMMEDIATELY. You may need to worry about the financial implications of the change after the fact if loosing your certificate has bigger financial implications (and it usually does).

Here's a unique concept, mainly because I do nothing but work for Registrar's (CB), so here it goes....Is there any reason why you can't contact them and ask "Is my certificate in jeopardy?"

The only true and valid answer will come from your CB. This is like asking a baker if your electrical system is failing because you're going to get 40 - 11 different answers (Except maybe from Andy)

From the original query, it looks like the OP has been in touch with their registrar, NSF. And, apparently, NSF has not been able to firm up the audit schedule for auditor turnover. You might not believe it, but sometimes, suppliers, including registrars, will lie to their customer. There is NOTHING wrong for people to ask questions here, if they want to have second, third, fourth,.... opinions about their challenge. After all, this forum exists to HELP people.

If a moderator suggests that people are wasting time asking questions here, it makes me wonder.
