Hello,

We are a manufacturer of aerospace fasteners and recently our sales team has stated that our Quality department will require NADCAP certification in order to supply fasteners to the "Big" OEMs. Does anyone know if this will actually be a requirement for manufacturing in the future? We have a small quality lab where we perform tensile, rockwell and a few other destructive tests but I cannot see us needing to go that far. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

I don't know about any of the other primes, but we received a letter from Boeing notifying us that we are "...part of Group 2 implementation requiring Nadcap M&I accreditation prior to January 1st, 2018..."

They're requiring the Measuring and Inspection accreditation for all Boeing DPD approved suppliers using coordinate measurement systems. Frankly, I didn't know there was an accreditation for measuring and inspection; I thought just special processes until I looked into it.

Did your sales team receive notification from one or more customers? And what type of Nadcap accreditation?

We are currently gearing up to get our NADCAP cert for CMM this winter.

I approve our vendors and we are being heavily suggested to ensure that any supplier we use be either NADCAP or AS/ISO approved. I have a handful of suppliers we use for fasteners and hardware that aren't approved but only because they are distribution only and the items they provide have to come with a full set of certs from the manufacturer.

We received a letter from Boeing a few weeks ago; they are changing their mandate for Nadcap M&I accreditation to "optional". This is due to "the lack of participation by other Nadcap M&I subscribers, the frequency of audits and the cost of the Nadcap audit process to our supply base."

Any Boeing DPD/MBD approved suppliers going to opt to keep their Nadcap accreditation?
