Does AS9100 certified OEM need AS9110 if no maintenance is provided?

Greetings,
Our customer is requiring us to meet the AS9110 standard even though we are an AS9100 certified OEM and provide no maintenance on products.

If a part is damaged, we repair it using the processes within our existing QMS (which the customer has already surveyed and approved).

According to the customer's own documents "AS9110 is required for suppliers performing alternate repair activity on non-OEM product."

I must be missing something.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I see no reason for AS9110 for an organization that only provides new parts.

I'm going to go a couple of rounds with them again tomorrow.

Wish me luck!

Thank you, for your input.

From your original post, it's not clear if the repair you perform is for shipped (and returned) products. Please clarify.

If the repair is for returned products can you issue return to service airworthiness certificates?

Does your AS9100 certificate include "repair" in the scope statement?
