Holding Dual Certifications - for AS9100 and AS9110

Just trying to get some information here to take back to my manager:

We have two companies, company A, which manufactures parts and is currently AS9100D certified and company B, which is a repair station and is currently AS9110B certified.

Some things have happened in the last couple months outside our immediate control and planning that necessitate incorporating company A into company B....making A more of a "department" instead of a separate entity like it has been.

Both companies are coming up on their surveillance audits (B is also upgrading to Rev. C and 9001:2015). I'm trying to find information on two things:

1: If company A is compliant with 9100, but is integrating into B, can they just drop their certification and be folded into 9110 and still fall under all of the requirements for manufacturers?

If no to that question then...

2: Can/should company B hold dual certifications for 9100 and 9110 with the manufacturing portion only being applicable to "Department A"?

Any help or resources is greatly appreciated!

1. If you have any contracts requiring 9100, 9110 will not work. 9110 does not have the same requirements and was not written for manufacturing organizations. It does still cover all of the ISO 9001 requirements though.

2. The scope for each certificate can include the processes you want them to cover. AFAIK you could still keep each certificate as-is.
