So, back to square one. Can I use any of the Scope? We do not supply any services and we take exception to design and development as we 3D print what the customer send us via CAD drawings.

I've searched the web but what I found has only confused me.

Lightbulb Re: AS9100 - Where to start - Small company (10 employees) and I am the Quality Dept.

Mary,

To define the scope of your management system simply describe what your organization does (services and products), what types of customers it does it for and the geographical limits of the system.

You may not design your products because your customers supply product specs and drawings. It which case you can exclude the product design processes and requirements. Iím not sure if you can say the same for your services.

You may want to identify the stakeholders (aka interested parties) ready to define the context of your organization and how it interacts with them.

Please tell us if youíre planning to exclude any part of what your organization does from its management system so we can advise further.

John

Re: AS9100 - Where to start - Small company (10 employees) and I am the Quality Dept.

Mary, We are also a small company and we track everything manually. I have a continuous excel spreadsheet to track internal scrap. Every job router when complete gets logged (pn#, estimated completion date, completion date, job quantity, job completed quantity, scrap, where scrapped, whom scrapped, dollar amount) This actually allows me to track how many parts we manufacture vs scrap, scrap $ amount, production on time, and then if a certain area or person appears to be scrapping alot of items, it lets us know where training is needed. hope this helps

What is it you do at your company? No need for a consultant, this is a simple question and many of us function as consultants.
