I have recently started a work as a SQE at a heat pump company. I am quite new in quality work so I seek good books for quality work in general and for SQE. I also need to be an expert on refrigerating technique, compressors, circulation pumps & heat exchangers.

If you got any good tips for books and articles please let me know.

It is very difficult without knowing precise information and your background and/or experiences.
Probably your organization should set a training program for you ( in class as well as on the job training/ coaching with more expert collegues).
My suggestion is to navigate in this forum for specific threads/topics.
Besides, given that you work as a SQE, I would like tto suggest to read book about quality auditing and related ISO standard as well as quality tools and methods ( FMEA, control Plan, SPC, MSA, PPAP etc...).
Hope this helps
good luck and stay in touch with this precious forum:bigwave:

hi! i think there is no book to teach about knowledge of SQE.
The knowledge of quality and Process of Product is need to know.

Hi, I dont think you could get more information thorugh the books at this time. Get back to yuor manager, and get some hands on experience. know the product profile and what kind of parts your company will buy from the suppliers. Spend some time at supplier place and understand their process.

List your main responsibilities and the manufacturing processes in the suppliers you will be responsible for and collect related books on these topics.

Problem solving (8D, 5Why, etc...) : You will be responsible for solving quality problems in your suppliers.

Capability calculation and Control Charts (SPC): Learn how to calculate capability and stability, normality. Learn at least X-R and moving range charts properly.

Learn how to audit a process. You will sign a PSW or something likewise after making a process audit (for a new project)

Learn basic principles of the manufacturing processes in your suppliers.

Learn how to manage a meeting in a supplier.

Learn how to keep meeting minutes and action item lists. These will be the records after every visit to the supplier.

Learn how to track supplier related KPI's and how these KPI's are calculated (PPM, delivery rating, etc...)

Learn internal auditing techniques.

Many other things can be said. But these will make a good start-up.

Cheers.

Pyzdek's Quality Engineering Handbook contains quite a bit of general quality engineering basics, and does contain sections on material control and acceptance sampling. There also is a chapter on Supplier relations and management methodologies.

I believe all the works you described should be followed by a good understanding of the process at your factory, or at least the same pace. In my opion, the most important skills should be the communicating skill. As a SQE, almost work is related to communication with your factory member, with your supplier's member.
