Depends on your education.
Entry level for a person with a technical degree will be different from entry level for a person with no college.

Job titles are rather subjective and somewhat meaningless. If you looked at my job title a year or two ago you would assume I worked in a team of people designing medical devices and reporting to one of many people, in reality I led a small team designing medical devices and was responsible for all aspects of quality and regulatory functions within the company.

You need to list what activities are carried out in the quality field; all the way from scheduling meetings, receiving/issuing documents through to approving documents, 3rd party audits and leading a team of auditors.

Of those tasks what would you happily hand over to an entry level starter?
What would you expect them to pick up within the first few months?

That being said, some innocuous titles are:

QA administrator
QA engineer
QA co-ordinator
QA assistant
Quality controller

I've seen adds for Documentation Clerk - that is entry level for someone with High School education who will need to be taught everything and probably won't be doing any of the writing or revisions.

Documentation Specialist is more for a higher education, doesn't need to be taught everything and can do a lot of the writing/revisions needed.

Pkost has some good points and a good list of titles going there.

Document Controller or QC or what?

I would divide it in Quality System and Product Quality Assurance section and depending on job assignment and education. You should first set the job description and the related career path for specific position according the processes to be managed in your quality department.

In the first case it could be Junior Quality system engineer of Quality system analyst , in the second Junior product quality engineer or Junior product quality technician :bigwave:

I too have wondered the answer to this question...I believe it would most often be 'Quality Inspector', which position, I think, can range from a glorified 'Machine Operator' to an actual Quality Inspector whose duties entail only quality operations...yet I have not the experience to tell you so firmly. I saw a reply to this post that said, "Quality Manager"; this is my predicament or blessing, depending on how I look at it. I am an entry level Quality Manager, as my username reflects. I very much want to know: IS THERE ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE LIKE ME??? Please, please reply if so! I need correspondence!

What do you mean by entry level?
This is your very first job, or it's your first job in quality, or it's your first job as a manager?

I would think on the Mfg. side it would be Quality Inspector and on the white collar side Documentation Clerk.
