Starting Something New

News flash, for those who did not know:

In about a month I'll be leaving my current Internal Auditor job in semiconductor manufacturing to join UL-DQS as a Lead Auditor. I've qualified as Co-Auditor and will do my Lead quals next month for 9001, then 14001 sometime soon and we'll see about 17025. Eventually I'll test for TS 16949 but it might not happen this year because time goes by so fast and I might not feel ready to take AIAG's exam battery in September.

I gave my boss 2 months notice instead of 2 weeks because I know they'd be in quite a bind if I just disappeared, and I didn't think UL could load my schedule that soon. The planners are loading my schedule from July onward. In November I'll be auditing Princeton University, and I'm really looking forward to that. Now my Navy and Education background is not only of use, they qualify me for "critical SIC codes" and I think that's just great because I feel ready for some more variety.

Pinch me! I have cracked it loose so to speak, and am finally moving forward to the next, long awaited phase. :D

I wish you great success as a professional auditor. That is a profession that can be very rewarding despite some frustration you will encounter, from time to time; especially dealing with those customers who are only interested in passing an audit and not really getting better. Make sure you sign up to all frequent user programs: airlines, hotel chains, rental car companies, etc...pack light and arm yourself with patience to deal with our TSA.

Welcome to the wonderful world of conformity assessment and, once again, all the best. :agree1:

Recently I dreamed I tried to save a frog from drowning: really, I dreamed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation etc. on a large frog. I psychoanalyzed myself between 5:45 AM and 7:30 AM and decided I had been too long in the job of trying to save people from themselves.

Even if that doesn't change, at least now I will have better control of my pay and schedule. :D

Kudos Jennifer, and to UL-DQS - lucky them!

:applause:

What an interesting job, auditing: continuous learning is one of the rewards, and what an appropriate and interesting place you are on to do that with Princeton.

UL-DQS? That's cool, I was with a couple of their folks not long ago in my Responsible Care course.

Thank you Pancho, it is actually rather ironic because 30 years ago I had no prospects of a degree of any kind, much less Princeton. This November I will audit them. I suppose the sense of satisfaction is derived from class envy; so be it. I have worked a very long time toward this. In any case it feels good to apply my education degree and experience in this way. I really do feel a sense of "all roads lead to this point" in that my wandering professional path now brings rewards.

Maybe it's because I signed up for TS auditing (a critical need), but they sponsored my training audits and it made all the difference.
