So this has been asked about before, only the answers came in short.
For Renault Nissan Suppliers I need to know what does your company do to reduce NTF (No Trouble Found ) defects, and is there any specific standard for their treatment?
I think the standard should be different from treating customer complaints and warranty claims.

:thanks:

NTF is a conclusion from verification of returned product and your manufacturing process, saying "There is nothing wrong with this part, there was nothing wrong with that process."

Now, take a look on data supplied by OEM. Check where vehicle was used, what are environmental specific condition there and tune your standard product test specification according to usage condition.
Next think about OEM assembling conditions. Check whether there is a chance to install your part improperly. Maybe some marks on part would tell it, so tune your standard product test according to assembling condition.
Finally, assembly this part in test car and check whether defect reoccurs.

Still nothing? Contact your OEM representative, show how active you were during investigation and try negotiate liability share 0%.
For innocence (NTF) you get 50% liability share. Very fair in my opinion.

Thank you for your reply

So in case of a NTF the company needs to conduct an investigation and present proof to the OEM suggesting that the product has not failed internally
In this case the company knows already that it's an NTF because the type of defect returned by the OEM has not occured before inside the company.
So what if the type of NTF has occured before, how can a company prove that the product deliverd to the OEM was conforme until it reached the OEM?

:thanx:

Warranty parts are parts after real life "endurance tests". Product specification can specify some endurance tests, but even returned part looks different than samples after endurance tests, it does not mean that it is NTF case. Tests are tests and life is life.

Designer shall define tests reflecting real life condition as much as possible. Sometimes he fails and real life could be much severe than designed tests, but still he is responsible for designing and liability is on supplier side.

Warranty parts have to meet defined product specification. It can be same specification as in case of brand new parts, or altered to reflect parts wear during usage. If returned parts are within specification, it can be evidence that these parts were within specification in moment of delivery to OEM. Sometimes parts are outside of specification in moment of delivery, but using them correct nonconformity, but this is not a common case.
