Designated Customer Representative - TS 16949 - Section 5.5.2.1

Greetings!!

Long time lurker, 1st time new poster.

Could please give me some examples on who your company has designated the cutomer rep? Just what does this person do when they are not fighting crime?:D

Their duties listed in the standard seem pretty broad. Just wondering how others have handled it.

My company is small (100 peeps) and is into the metal stampin' and fabricatin' business.

TIA!!!!

Re: Section 5.5.2.1 Customer Rep

Ours likes to chew fingernails, benchpress 200lbs in the gym room, and renew anti-depressant prescriptions...

customer representative -> An employee who acts as the voice of the customer within a company. (must enjoy swearing, arguing, ranting, and occassional games of beer pong)

I apologize for the light tone, just couldn't resist! Hopefully some of the experienced folk can help you with this question, for now hope you have a good weekend!

In theory in our company anyone who is trained in the product standards agreed between ourselves and the customer are expected to be the customer representatives. In reality however it is the shop floor auditors and Quality Engineers.

Shop floors auditors perform continual endo of line sampling audits and enforce the agreed customer standards.

Quality Engineers do the face to face customer stuff, plus co-ordinate corrective actions and work on the quality requirements for new products

Welcome to 'posting', instead of 'lurking'........

Typically, in the plants I've been involved with, the Customer Rep is a Quality Engineer. Their principle roles are on the multi-disciplined team doing the Flow-chart, PFMEA, Controls plans, ensuring that any new work being quoted has the capability to be supported (like gauging etc.) identifying any characteristics for SPC, liaison with the customer when dealing with alerts, 8D's, containment etc. etc. etc.

Then, after lunch..........:lmao:
