Re: Form 1 easa/ form 8130-3 tag
Hi chusiwd30,
The best place to start is to go right to the source, the FAA. Specifically the FSDO. To find the Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) nearest you, hop onto the FAA web site "tripple dub faa dot GOV". Navigate to or search for "
FSDO". Sorry I can't post the exact link due to forum TOS, but it should be easy to find. There are FSDO office all over the place, so one should be close to you.
Give them the specifics of your aircraft, the part, the EASA Form 1, and any other pertinent information. They will be able to assist you. Many people fear the FAA, you shouldn't. They have to keep all the rules enforced and that eventually means keeping you and the public safe. Sure many of the stuff you hear in the news about the FAA is at the higher levels, but the "working guys and gals" are 95% to 99% very helpful, friendly, and will provide all the stuff you need to accomplish what you want to do. Always tell them the truth about the part, airplane, etc..., give complete details, and you'll be fine.
Bottom line is that having a "valid" EASA Form 1 is a good start. You can always contact the distributor or company that sold you the part and discuss the EASA Form 1, another good place for info.
The United States' Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) (in the US it is the Federal Aviation Administration - FAA) has what are called bi-laterals in place with almost all other countries with aviation industries. The bi-lateral spells out (it's all legal stuff) exactly how the US and the other countrys' CAA interact. From big picture things like entire aircraft certifications, down to having an imported aircraft part with the EASA Form 1. I can't tell from what you have written if what you have is valid, and airworthy...so I won't venture any specific advice, except to contact the FAA FSDO.
Hope this helps,
LAACODER
