I'm sorry to burst your bubble but the basis of becoming a CVE is that you've attained a level of professional experience / aptitude and have been nominated by your superiors, you cannot become one 'in the shortest possible time'.

Generally under the EASA system it's done by nomination of an individual by a head of airworthiness of a company, and their experience and qualifications are submitted to EASA as a declaration that they've been awarded CVE status.

Under the FAA system, a CVE (compliance verification engineer) is known as a DER (designated engineering representative), and the process is similar I believe, except they are required to attend an FAA training and pass a short test.

Being a good design engineer / CAD user may add to your portfolio of experience, but it's not really enough on its own to justify qualification as a CVE.
You will need some significant experience, some training in air law, safety engineering and liability to fill this role.

The basis of being a CVE / DER is really that of being an aviation technical judge/lawyer, it implies that you're aware of aviation liability, airworthiness law, safety engineering, have general knowledge of the FARs & JARs and are competent / trusted enough to act in the mutual interests of both the company employing you, and the airworthiness authorities. (These interests are often in conflict - you have the ethical imperative to decide what's right and you will take the heat for it)

In this job, you fundamentally hold legal responsibility for saying whether a product, a repair or a deviation from process / procedure entails any risk to airworthiness.
It also means you are criminally accountable if something you sign off as airworthy later leads to an accident causing injury or death, you can be charged with criminal negligence.

Are you sure you still want to be a CVE?
