Incentive Package for obtaining ISO 14001 Certification

Good Morning Everyone,

:bigwave:This is my 3rd post. This question is for any Quality Manager.
Is there a standard amount or incentive that should be negotiated for obtaining a certification? [ISO/TS 16949 or ISO 14001]? Should this be an additional aspect of the position or is it structured into the base salary.

Meaning when you become part of a payroll; maintaining the certification, if any, comes along with the position; and any new certification obtained is still considered part of the function of that position, rendering incentives to a mute point. Or for any certification obtained or renewed, there should be a incentive for each.:thanx:

You can try and negotiate, it all depends on how receptive your company/boss is.
The answer I would probably get is "Are having a laugh? Thats part of your job!"
Getting the recognition for quality let alone being rewarded for your efforts is like :deadhorse:in some organisations.
Good luck!

I do not know about monetary incentives but successful certifications definitely gain you acceptance and with luck promotions.

It won't be a bad idea though.;)

This reminds me of a very old joke about a kid asking his father for an increase in his allowance on the grounds that he (the kid) has been doing all of his household chores, getting good grades, etc. The father's response: "Well, I don't know. When I was your age I was good for nothing."

I once received a fairly substantial increase in salary after guiding a successful ISO 9001 certification effort, but that was really unexpected and unusual, in my experience. The whole thing is really a team effort, so to reward one person doesn't seem to me like quite the right thing to do. Nonetheless, everything is negotiable in these matters.

If anyone happens to get such an incentive from the management, then be aware, it means now go and keep maintaining it all by yourself :notme: ..... otherwise ... :mg:

I conduct a lot of training and I often get asked by trainees what is the benefit, for them, to take this training and I have a pat answer:

Continued employment.

It wouldn't fly where I work - these things are expectations of the job. If were NOT able to get the certification, it would surely be a black mark against the owner of that project.

As another poster put it: the incentive is continued employment. To be rewarded above and beyond your salary for doing what is expected for that salary sounds a bit odd.
