The format of a proper ISO 14001 Aspect & Impacts matrix would be very suitable for Risks and Hazards as well.

Aspects = Risks
Impacts = Hazards
the rest of the details are similar.

The Legal Requirements matrix can be easily combined as well.

Most of the administrative ISO type requirements can also be combined.

can you share any format availble with you

I don't want to actually post the template, as it is part of my consulting work. I assume there are various Aspect list examples posted on Elsmar.

However, if you follow what I described, in 14001, there is a column for Aspects, where you describe the various aspects of your company and what you do. That same column can be used to describe the hazards in your company.

There is a column for Impacts in 14001, that can also be used for Risks. The rankings and scoring can be the same also.

Now, if you are just beginning, and really do not have much knowledge about ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001, then I think you need a different approach. I would advise first you must read both standards. Maybe use a good consultant for a short time just to get you started in the right direction. Then you can take it from there. You may contact me by private message if you have more specific questions.

There are searchable attachments accessible via the Post Attachments List - see the green button in the header. At least one of the formats for Environmental Aspects could be adapted to include safety. I attached a Safety FMEA in the Slaying Workplace Safety Costs thread. It could be adapted to also list safety program risks and hazards. As an afterthought I would want to list the procedure that contains operational controls mitigating the risk.

I see no problem with using similar formats, but the criteria description would vary between the two programs so if I were implementing the system I would use a tab for each, environmental and safety.

I hope this helps!

When considering Aspect & Impacts matrix, I saw that many are aligning this way: Aspect with Hazard, and Impact with Risk.

Risk
Combination of the likelihood of an occurrence of a hazardous event or exposure(s) and the severity of injury or ill health that can be caused by the event or exposure(s).

Risk assessment
Process of evaluating the risk(s) arising from a hazard(s), taking into account the adequacy of any existing controls, and deciding whether or not the risk(s) is acceptable.

What was the idea of reversing Hazards and Risks?

Best regards,
Vladimir

Not intentional...Consider it a typo. But the principle of combining the two lists is fine

Thanks! I've made such a list for myself. It fits great in any MS we've implemented so far. The external auditor saw it and wasn't complaining at all :) It's close to "risk based thinking", when some methodology is applied.

Best Regards,
Vladimir
