I followed the link trail and arrived at this page.

It says:

Our position on climate change

We have the same concerns as people everywhere – and that is how to provide the world with the energy it needs while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The risk of climate change is clear and the risk warrants action. Increasing carbon emissions in the atmosphere are having a warming effect. There is a broad scientific and policy consensus that action must be taken to further quantify and assess the risks.

ExxonMobil is taking action by reducing greenhouse gas emissions in its operations, helping consumers reduce their emissions, supporting research that leads to technology breakthroughs and participating in constructive dialogue on policy options.

Addressing climate change, providing economic opportunity and lifting billions out of poverty are complex and interrelated issues requiring complex solutions. There is a consensus that comprehensive strategies are needed to respond to these risks.

"ExxonMobil is taking action by reducing greenhouse gas emissions in its operations, helping consumers reduce their emissions, supporting research that leads to technology breakthroughs and participating in constructive dialogue on policy options."

This is just BS talk. How are they helping consumers reduce emissions? What research are they supporting, and does "support" mean funding? How much $? Where does this "constructive dialogue" lead? Does it result in any sort of action?

"Addressing climate change, providing economic opportunity and lifting billions out of poverty are complex and interrelated issues requiring complex solutions. There is a consensus that comprehensive strategies are needed to respond to these risks."

What does that mean to you? To me it means: "The solutions are complex and require the cooperation of many parties. Therefore we are not responsible and won't do much unless others lead the way." I also don't like the hint that their operations help billions stay out of poverty, therefore "threatening" that if they are forced to do the right thing those billions will sink back into darkness. I believe that the welfare of the poor people around the world is just about the last thing Exxon cares about, not to mention that those poor are likely to be the first and hardest hit by the effects of global climate change. Come on, Exxon PR people, you can say it - what Exxon cares about most is its shareholders profit. In fairness I must say that Exxon is not unique in that sense, this is the capitalist system at its best.

At the end of the day, Exxon and companies like it make huge fortunes from fossil fuel and refuse to take the full responsibility for the consequences of such fuel usage. There is an inherent conflict of interest here - Exxon directly profits from more fossil fuel consumption and loses from reduced consumption. No amount of BS can change that simple fact.
