FAA Form 8130-3 Signed in 2 places

:bigwave: I work in a repair station and often have to obtain 8130-3s for replacement parts arriving for inventory. We are seeing some 8130s (signed by a DMIR way back in 2004) in both Block 13b (as expected) but also the DMIRs signature is written across the "return to service" blocks 14a - e (this are is already darkened). Does anyone know if this was common practice in 2004 (the FARs were different back then for sure)?

Thank You

Starting to get Involved
I would only expect to see the DMIR sign on the left hand side. I would question someone doing it differently.

I would start by seeing if your DMIR is still a valid designee. You can do this at the FAA's website. Since I do not have a post count greater than 10 it won't let me add a link to my post. You should be able to get contact info. Maybe they didn't fully understand the requirement.
