I have revised my MSA 3rd Ed.xls file, which was based on the Average Range method to MSA 3rd Ed ANOVA.xls. As the name implies, it is based on the ANOVA method.

You can find the file attached to my blog entry on Gauge R&R. As described in my blog, I have taken the AIAG ANOVA approach one step further. The file allows you to state the alpha risk for pooling the interaction and the operator effects. Based on the notes that appear by the ANOVA tables, you can select a full ANOVA, one that pools the interaction, or one that pools an insignificant operator term. This is the same approach that I used in my Wheeler's Honest Gauge Study.xls file.:)

Thanks for the file. One question for the general public ... Did anyone submit this type of analysis in a PPAP package and what response did you get from the customer?

The second tab information should be more than satisfactory to meet PPAP requirements - as far as the information supplied.

I agree ... But, as past has shown, not all those who see also understand.

What is your specific interest? I am not taking any offense, I am simply curious. Do you suspect that customers will question the results, be overwhelmed, ...?

Note: I have validated the results using the Ford SW Validation data set, as well as cross checking with Minitab.

I like the worksheet and find it to be a great tool. Also, thanks for the note on validating the results.

My concern is if the report generated contains too much info for the customer. Many people evaluating PPAP packages are just looking for the 'R&R number' without understanding or evaluating the rest of the information. It is like trying to explain to the average person the margin of error in the results of a survey poll. Too much info might be overhelming for some customers. I was wondering if anyone exeprienced anything like that by providing detailed MSA reports.

I would just supply the GRR Report tab - just for the reasons you cite.
