Force Calibration - In-House Load Cell Calibration

Learning what I can.
Currently we send out our load cells for external calibration, but are considering commiting to internal calibration.

Anyone have experience with calibrating load cells?

Pros?

Cons?

I always sent the load cells out for calibration, never did it internally. My only recommendation for you is not to forget the calibration of the speed feature of your pull tester if it has one, so if you do tests at 12" per minute you can be sure that your equipmen is capable to deliver that speed. The speed calibration could be done internally using a calibrated time meeter and a calibrated ruler as masters.

What about one load cell which is sent out for calibration and then using it to compare values of the load cell in the equipment? This may require fixtures to hold the calibrated load cell in a manner as the part is presented to the in process load cell?

Just a thought I have no idea on actual application or results.

I'll expand on the topic a bit more.

We are considering buying a servo-hydraulic load frame with transfer standard load cells. The load frame/control system is designed for load cell calibration and would be its dedicated purpose.

I read it as the equipment was already in place or planned for. If that is not the case determine cost of external calibration and impact on operations. Which ever cheaper is clear. Otherwise unknown costs such as loss of flexiability by using external services should be considered. Without knowing details I say internal as a rule is better.

hi there..

i also have problem during calibration..
i still doubt how to solve the problem..

i have calibrated master loadcell 400t and calibrated loadcell 200t..
how to compare reading between master and calibrated loadcell?
how to get the best scale factor?

please help!!!!!!.... thanks
