Paperless Temperature Recorder for Temperature Surveys on Heat Treatment Ovens

Hi,

I am looking for a paperless temperature recorder to be used to carry out temperature surveys on heat treatment ovens in accordance with AMS2750.

It needs to be 18 channel and have a secure non editable data output. We will use thermocouple input for the readings.

I have been quoted for the Eurotherm 6100, but just wondered if anyone had any ideas for an alternative.

Thanks in Advance

Simon.

Hello Simon! Welcome to the Cove! :bigwave:

I haven't worked with paperless recorders in a while. Being in a regulated industry, the effort of validating electronic records and such is not worth the trouble many times. ;)

However, I have used the Yokogawa and Honeywell paperless recorders. I think the Yokogawa had the better software interface, IMO.

There didn't appear to be much difference among the recorders themselves. The big differences were in the software.

If you can get a demo/ trial version of the software and spend some time with it, that may be a good investment.

Simon,

Two instruments that are very popular workhorses over here for temperature datalogging are the:

* Fluke Hydra Datalogger series (2635A/C, 2638A)
* Agilent / Keysight (I just can't get used to that name!!!) 34970A datalogger with 34901A acquisition card
Both come with the software package to support them.

They are rugged, widely used, versatile, and meet your requirements (unless you are looking for the graphical display of the Eurotherm 6100 series)

Thanks for the feedback. Has the Hydra interface improved? I loved the Hydra itself, but the data interface was pretty cumbersome for me. Granted, that was 10 years ago.

Of the Fluke/Agilent, which interface software package do you prefer?

Brad,

I agree, both software packages are functional, but clunky to work with.
Typically I would dump the data into Excel and do my work there. In a situation like Simon is presenting you make up a template for the analysis for mapping the ovens then you just dump the new data into it each successive mapping.

We looked at Datapaq once before... Google Datapaq. Fluke also has their new 1586 Super-DAQ
