ISO 9001:2015 Sec 9.3.2 IATF 9.3.2.1 - Process Performance and Conformity of Products

I'm wondering if anyone else has looked at this but does anyone know if

ISO 9001:2015 Sec 9.3.2. c) 3) process performance and conformity of products and services

and

IATF 9.3.2.1 Sec b) measures of process effectiveness;

mean the same thing?

Not quite.

A process is effective if it fulfills its objectives.

Process performance also considers efficiency. An effective process may be inefficient (uncompetitive) and in need of improvement along with its objectives.

Conformity of services and products speaks for itself until we benchmark our services and products. We may then find they conform to uncompetitive acceptance criteria. Again, improvement of the service or product and its realization processes (spec) may be required.

Process performance is similar to process effectiveness and efficiency. Whereas conformity of product and services will relate to generally no. of warranty claims, customer complaints, customer suggestions, etc.

Hello all

I think another question can be stated in this matter.
As you can see, based on ISO 9001:2015 Sec 9.3.2. c) 3), "process performance and conformity of products and services" is one of the MR input, so why has IATF repeated the "product conformance" as an MR input in clause 9.3.2.1 d)?
Is it just a mistake of IATF 16949 developers?

There are words "process" and "product" in a same sentence. It means that it is related to product realization process.

and

IATF 9.3.2.1 Sec b) measures of process effectiveness;

mean the same thing?

This time it is related to all organization's system processes, of course including product realization process.

Let me throw a bit more at this discussion since I was recently on this topic.
A phrase search within the standards for 'product conformance' also shows up in 8.6.4, related to suppliers.
"...records of acceptable delivered product conformance to requirements."

So I too wish that IATF was more clear about what the scope of the requirement is.

Although QS-9000 doesn’t define conformity, it does define nonconformity as a “process” which does not conform to a quality system requirement.

It makes the distinction that a non-conformance is a “product or material” which does not conform to customer requirements or specifications.

So, QS-9000 uses both conformity (process) and conformance (product).

However, ISO 9000 uses conformity as fulfilling either process or product requirements.
