Re: Record Retention Requirements - IATF 16949 Clause 7.5.3.2.1

Good day @tongxiaozhi / all;
Consider this:
Record retention, including evidence of product conformity and lot traceability, should be a SELFISHLY motivated activity. If your organization's product is still being provided in to commerce, then your organization will want to ensure that these records are available in case of warranty, the "R" word (recall), etc... These type of records can be used to limit exposure (lot and change point traceability) and refuting a non-conformance claim (evidence of process/product conformity).

If we simply look at the standard and CSR as burdensome busy-work, then we miss an opportunity to conform via actions that are actually beneficial to us and our organizations. Be selfish all...exploit the requirements of the standard to benefit you and your organization. Hope this helps.
Be well.

Re: Record Retention Requirements - IATF 16949 Clause 7.5.3.2.1

A couple of years ago we would have been put out of business by an overzealous customer if it wasnít for our competent record keeping of a production run seven years previous. Obviously you canít retain everything, but the important stuff doesnít generally take up much room and isnít a massive drain on resource to keep and maintain.

As a wise (and slightly loopy) friend of mine used to say ďThese things are never important until they are, and then itís usually too lateĒ.
Thanks to Scanton for your informative Post and/or Attachment!
