Question Who has had a Transition Audit from TS 16949 to IATF 16949

Who has had a transition audit from TS 16949 to IATF 16949? If so, can you tell us some details based on the experience?

Those on annual audit cycles are likely starting to get hit this month.

Re: Who has had a Transition Audit from TS 16949 to IATF 16949

We just had our transition audit (22 mandays audit).

Key theme of the audit are the changed elements - as can be expected -.
So the 9001:2015 and ISO/TS IATF changed items. How do you fulfill them?

In advance a 1 day review was on performance (customer score cards etc) and 1 day document review (show how we fulfill the requirements). How is your cross reference and can you already show how you set-up your processes?

Therefore (for us) focussed shifted from primary to secundary processes like warranty mgt systems. Although all regular items were checked (core tools, calibration, personell competence, etc).

Other lessons from the audit:
- KPI management (if you a have a negative trend to target. Can you always show your action plans and are employees aware of priorities, improvement plans)
- Management review process really takes effort (in big company) especially to show that we had a good review of the 'changed management system' and top management was really involved.
- 8.5.6.1.1 Temporary change of process controls was issue in some areas
- all functions involved (as they were part of audit) like Finance, Sales, Procurement, etc

We have few majors to follow up, but wil have special audit in summer to close the non-conformities

We did
steel slitting and blanking for automotive
6 mandays, no majors, no minors
since we were one of the first, when the audit goes to registrar review committee I'm sure it will be scrutinized pretty closely
I'll post more later, it just concluded yesterday

Re: Who has had a Transition Audit from TS 16949 to IATF 16949

A couple comments:
Mandatory requirement is that all internal audits including all shifts for manufacturing must be completed and presented at management review. Auditor competency to audit to the IATF standard must be shown.

We took the 5 day ISO transition class and used consultants who had been through the CB IATF class to critique FMEA’s, GAP analysis, internal audits, teach classes and do walkthrough’s to keep us pointed in the right direction.
We had a 6 month project timeline that was used to make sure we did not leave anything out.

IATF has mandated that there is no transition audit, remember that as soon as you start the IATF audit, your TS16949 certificate is no longer valid- Any majors have to be cleared within 90 days, and so don’t wait until the last minute. Those who sit for the audit in spring and summer may find that there is a shortage of auditors and time slots that you might prefer and you will be up against the deadline for certification to IATF 16949.

A few examples of new clauses covered: facility security and IT program security, backup procedures (both data and equipment). Several people from top management to maintenance were asked about goals and site objectives and how they are tracked and managed, especially if not reached. They wanted to see evidence that we had training in code of conduct/ ethics. Went over the context document in detail, especially how you determine and track what interested parties need. Wanted evidence that how we insure compliance of our outsourced providers to legal and regulatory requirements. Also on Outsources processes, how do you know what risks to audit at that site? Looked for competence records for several employees to be sure they were current and signed by supervisor/management. Also asked more questions of top management than at prior TS audits

Re: Who has had a Transition Audit from TS 16949 to IATF 16949

My auditor has already raised the standard of auditing to meet the requirements of Rule number 5. I consider this a very challenging experience that will raise our quality management system to the new level of excellence. From my standpoint as long as I do not get a major nonconformance, satisfied to know that hard work pays off.

Re: Who has had a Transition Audit from TS 16949 to IATF 16949

The IATF has just released the IATF Transition Strategy and Requirements REV03 document.

It stipulates:

Quote:
If the client does not provide the minimum required information for the off-site documentation review prior to the audit to the certification body, the audit shall not begin.

It is at the discretion of the certification body to schedule additional audit days on-site to conduct an additional in-depth review of the documentation provided by the client prior to the audit.

If the transition audit cannot be conducted within the required timeframe, the client shall start over with an initial audit.

It's look scary, having 22 Days audit. How detail was audit conducted? We have joint a class related internal audit by a local consultant and said that no need 1 year data but at least a sample of data and scheduled activity plan is that OK?

I just discuss with my CB, that we will have 5 to 6 days audit. Of course it's because we are a small company.
