Supporting Process Definitions - Remote Locations

In audit planning our CB had us identify any remote locations, then select all support processes which are applicable to the remote location. Some of the process descriptions are indicated as “R&D”, “Product Design”, “Laboratory”, “Testing”.

Are these process descriptions defined by IATF and if so, where are the definitions located?

These descriptions are asked by IATF in order to enter in its database. I tried to locate these descriptions in standards such as IATF rules 5th edition and on IATF website, but couldn't find.

Following are the support process descriptions as shared by one of the IATF CBs (for your reference). You can contact your CB and ask for the source as well, since it might change from time to time.

Starting to get Involved
I have question on adding remote site to iatf 16949 certification. Our site no longer manufactures product only a pass thru site so we will not be able to have stand alone certification. We will need to be added to our manufacturing site (with is out of the country), my question can we be added to certification at anytime or do we need to wait for their current certification to expire? If this is the case we will go 2 years without certification? I was thinking we could be added now but it might be my misunderstanding? Any help would be great!
