Inspection Method and Control Method for Visual Inspection?

I'm working on a manual fabrication process control plan, thank you all for the suggestions and help cove friends provided.

The new obstacle I met is how to define the "specification", "inspection method" and "control method" for a visual inspection station's process character?

We named the visual inspection's process character as "inspection criteria" and "inspection method", what should we state for the "specification", "inspection method" and "control method" accordingly?

I want to state the ones for "inspection creteria" as "proper creteria" (specification), "visual"(inspection method), and "FAI" (control method). Are they properly or correct?

Appreciate for your comments.

Try to determine your criteria for Point defect , Line defect and area defect like not more than xx size and not more than yy long and for your area defect it becomes a combination of both point and line.
Determine the angle of vision in the visual inspection, the distance from eye to view and the standard lighting conditions. Determine the time of visual inspection based on the surface inspected which depends on the use like 'always seen area' 'sometimes seen area' ' seldom seen area' and so on.
From here comes the development of skill in doing the visual inspection and which can be proved to be consistant with several trials done across many people. Going through this trials and with good understanding of the requirement the criteria can be fine tuned for optimum acceptable results.
Everything needs to be determined based on your product and application and customer requirements.

Thank you, somashekar.
But I'm really confused after getting your answer:(, May I get an example for this kind of CP for visual inspection process?

I am sorry if I did.
But I was only telling you what must be in a SOP for visual inspection. You are looking for visual defects to mark off a part as non conforming and my attempt was to assist in making a SOP that when used by inspectors who do this task will get you consistant results. It is therefore best that you make a SOP for your best results.
Specification and control method would be the SOP and your trained inspectors., and inspection method as you have been telling is obviously visual.
I am not sure what is your "FAI" ... ?

The measurement technique is "visual," the "specification (and tolerance) consists of the criteria established for distinguishing acceptable parts, and the control method could be your FAI (which I take to refer to a First Article Inspection report). The control method should address the way the inspectors' findings are recorded.
Just saying "proper criteria" isn't enough; you need to define the criteria. You can either show those requirements in the control plan, or refer to a controlled document that explains the criteria.

Certainly right just like to add,
What is the product that is being fabricated and What kind of defect that can be identified visually? Will certainly decide the course of action

One way to control this can be . You make a folder in which you put different kind of sample having different defects. you can categories them as TARGET ( this will be the approved sample),Acceptable( what is acceptable) ,Marginally acceptable( this can be one one that are acceptable under some special circumstances) ,Un acceptable ( these will contain the sample that are unacceptable. On These sample bases a control can be imposed.

Depending on this folder you can plot the data and see if they are as per AQL or not.
