Internal Audit - Coverage for ISO 9001:2015

I want to know the requirement from ISO standard so as to prepare my Internal Audit plan accordingly.

* Presently we are transitioning to ISO 9001:2015 -
* to be audited against v 2015 by our CB along with the re-certification audit in the year 2017 by April'17

The internal Audit program is planned at Sept'16 and other Nov'16-Dec'16.

My queries with regards to Internal Audit

a) Is each clause of ISO to be audited in each process in a span of 3 years
or
b) each clause of ISO should be covered in each applicable process - frequency depends on importance and status or
c) each process at each location should be covered by the applicable process

above - applicable for ISO 9001:2008.

For Auditing against ISO 9001:2015 in perspective of 1st registration audit

1) Should I cover all applicable ISO causes to each process at each location
Eg. Common processes-based questions and then applicable ISO clauses.

Sales are present at A location ; B location
If Sales at A location is covered by all applicable clauses of ISO in the 1st year then, need not cover sales at B location in the 1st year.

Please help

Your answer as:
a) Nope
b) Kinda
c) What does that mean?
1) Kinda

Your focus is wrong. It seems you've been trying to do stuff which isn't in ISO! Have you been told you have to do these things? (Check your register contract to see if they need you to do this - if so, change registers)

If you do a process based audit, depending on scope and criteria, you need to plan those things which control or help to control the process your auditing. SInce you mention sales, think "What else helps sales function as a process?" Also what have their problems been? Did anything change? Did you sit down an talk with sales management at all? Have you ever sat down with management and planned your audits?
You'r asking question about the IA program which are usually not important to management and don't make a good program but keep a register auditor happy because they don't know any better (in many cases)

Plan your audit, work your plan.

I would personally plan to assess all my processes in light of the new requirements prior to transition. I would personally want to have discovered and begun addressing nonconformances in the system prior to the 3rd party audit, FWIW.

Cheers,

How do you currently do audits? Do you use a process approach? Use a TURTLE diagram or something? It helps to know what your doing now.

You will need to cover all clauses of 2015 prior to your first stage audit with your registrar. Do a web search to find a 2008 vs. 2015 correlation matrix and use it to link you current audits to the new standard. Contrary to the hype you may have heard the changes introduced in 2015 are not that big and scary. Create a 2015 master audit and using existing audit results complete as much of the 2015 audit as possible and then audit those items not previously audited. Congratulations, you’ve now met the audit requirement for 2015 registration.
