Internal Auditor Trainer's Requirement

We underwent an internal audit training course for our process owners. The CB is asking us on the qualification of the trainer who conducted the training. Is it mandatory requirement for trainer to be a Lead Auditor ?

Not in regular old ISO. IATF has specific trainer competency requirements.

But clarify. Where you training your process owners how to audit or how to survive an audit?

Under 9001:2015...NO! All the individual has to be is competent and you get to do that, not the auditor (you just have to be able to say how you determined competence)

This sounds like "mission creep" from the automotive industry auditors who have been asking the same questions - and have been told NOT to! If this is an ISO 9001 audit, your CB is waaaay off the mark here.
