Howdy,

Does anyone have examples of scope statements that they are willing to share?

I'm in the process of writing up our scope ( cnc machining, sheet metal fabrication, assembly, etc) and could use a few examples for reference.

Cheers,
AshleyE

The word 'scope' is defined in a guideline as "range or extent of action, main purpose, intention".

Attached is a good example of a 'scope' statement. This document is available in the 'post Attachment' section. I'm sure you will get pretty good response from other Covers.

Hope this helps.

AshleyE - typically companies chose a one line (or 2) statement which describes what they do as a company. A bit like if you met someone in an elevator and they asked what your company do! You don't have much time to explain, so a 'one liner' is good.

Yours is almost complete:

"CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication and assembly (is there something specifically?) (sometimes people add in a specific market) or 'to customer requirements'..."

"Scope statement" is one of the most misused (or abused) term I have witnessed. It is extremely important to grab its precise interpretation before coining one liners or easy explanations.

The scope statement is an agreement among the project team, the project sponsor and key stakeholders. It represents a common understanding of the project for the purpose of facilitating communication among the stakeholders and for setting authorities and limits for the project manager and team. The scope statement includes relating the project to business objectives, and defining the boundaries of the project in multiple dimensions including approach, deliverables, milestones, and budget. Read here for more....

another example is here.

This has nothing to do with scope of certification, which was the subject of the original post.

Scope of ISO 9001, Scope of Quality Management System and Defining Scope of Certification

Please allow me to disagree with you Sidney.:nope: I do not find 'Scope of Certification' in OP's post. Even setting that aside, do you not agree that 'Scope of Statement' has far reaching implications (complications)?!

With due regards to your expert observation, I am unable to digest your logic. I will appreciate if you could shed some more light on your line of thinking.

Well, the fact that the question was posted under the ISO 9001 Forum and the previous posts had to do with suggestions on the scope of certification, highlighted by the fact that the previous answers had been welcomed by the OP gives me a strong indication that was what she was looking for.

Or my uncanny sixth sense....

By jove Sidney, you have done a 'Houdini' !?! :lmao:

and a 'Sixth sense' is always superior to 'Common sense', since the later is most uncommon of all the senses!! :notme:(Mark Twain)
