My boss ( QM ) doesnt want us ( Internal auditors) to put Non conformance in our internal audits eventhough they are really non conformance.. he reckons a NC is " Company Closure"..

Internal auditor need to look at the documented system and implementation to see if documented system is put into action and effectiveness of the implementation of the documented system. Show to your Boss clause 8.2.2 of ISO 9001. If he insisted not to adhere, then he should forget the standard.

Re: NOn conformance

Instead of calling them non conformances, he can call them nonconformities. :notme:

I don't care what he (or anybody) calls them, as long as corrective actions are taken when they're needed.

Call that by the name that he likes .. take actions on them suitably.
Why not call them :
1. Action requests
2. Things requiring corrections
3. Departmental NC's
4. Bump's
5. Oh My God's

I can't resist the comment that this is a typical magical thinking - if we don't call nonconformances by the name, they will somehow vanish. From life experience, it's opposite effect - they will rather multiplicate like rabbits.

Agreed. We call them Improvement actions, btw.

Who cares what they are called, as long as they are actioned. If you boss wants them called something else which is more meaningfull to your business and the management team, or he want's to call them starwberries, aardvarks, hairy mammoths, its really not an issue as long as you define it as such in your manual/quality procedures.
