Hello-
One of our suppliers provided a certificate stating that they meet the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001:2000. The certificate has on original approval date of 18 July 1995 and is valid until 12 May 2012. I was wondering if they should have an updated certificate referencing the latest revision (2008) of the standard?

Hi,

Yes they should have had an audit since 2008, and on passing that audit they should have been issued an updated certificate.

Well, it depends on whether the certificate is an accredited certificate...
If it's ANAB or UKAS, RvC etc. then it must have been upgraded by now.

Without such an accreditation, all bets are off!

Andy: it has an UKAS logo on it.

It may be that they've dropped their certification? IS the CB who issued the cert still in business? For example, there have been a few 'consolidations' and the supplier may have 'slipped through the cracks' in the moves...just a thought.

Any chance you could scan it and post it here? You could blank out the company name of course.

Colin - I wouldn't mind posting it but I can only add a file/picture as a web link. I also noticed that the certificate was issued on 12 May 2010.

Have a look at the attachment. A certificate from an accredited CB saying that the organization is registered to the Environmental Management Standard ISO 9001 (2000), valid until 11-25-2011.
