All.

Not exactly. Take 4.1, 4.2 - These state ISO 9001 requirements but I think when one asks about QMS planning I think we generally think in terms of planning for products and processes and systems within a company.

Now, if we look at 5.4, it pretty well lays out some requirements - For example 5.4.2 Quality Management System Planning.

qusys and keres listed some good examples, but again - Not every clause of ISO 9001 is applicable to QMS planning. An example would be (my opinion, of course) 4.2.3 Control of documents.

Allow me to expand.. All requirements in any quality management system standard requires planning effort before the implementation stage, and planning for subsequent monitoring and continual improvement.

What I mean is planning effort on part of the process owners.

Makes sense?

Hi Stijoor,
I have understood your point.
However we should also take into account the context of the question.
Probably this question from the student comes from a final test or exercise at the end of a course about ISO 9001 interpretation or stuff like that.
It seems that this is the nature of this question, so that the trainee can have a general undestanding of how all the clause of ISO 9001 interact:This is my personal view. Waiting for other feedback of Marc , who wrote the comment.

Implementation is a whole different issue, but let's look at after the system is implemented. Once the system is in place and operating it's a different story.

Can anyone help me in Naming 5 clauses in the iso 9001:2008 that needs planning?
If someone asked me that I would *assume* the question is about in an implemented, operating system since implementation is a one time shot.

One can always say planning has to be done for everything whether it be implementation of a QMS (or implementation of any standard), or even going to the store for groceries. If you want to get down to it, planning is necessary for everything we do in life from grocery shopping to deciding (planning) what movie or TV program to watch on a given night.

I also agree that planning for subsequent monitoring and continual improvement is necessary, but in the context of the question I don't think a broad answer of "All" addresses the question. I know if I was in, for example, a lead auditor course, and the question was asked, that the instructor would not accept "All" as an answer. Yes, you could make the argument you have but it is so broad I would expect the instructor to possibly do one of these  - If I was the instructor I would expect an answer which cites clauses of the standard which specifically have a planning requirement in them.

The only part of the question that is of issue to me is the use of the word "needed" in joshubob's question. My bet is "required" would be a better word choice.

You are right. The word used in the question is "required" not "needed". I understood the meaning of the question after reading your message. Thanks a lot.
