ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015 - Changes Discussion

I'll start with this:

ISO 9001:2015 Sections as of 20130730

1. Scope
2. Normative references
3. Terms and definitions
4. Context of the organization
5. Leadership
6. Planning
7. Support
8. Operation
9. Performance evaluation
10. Improvement

I am assuming from links in ISO 9001:2015 Draft - Status everyone has a copy.

Here is a link to comittee draft standard (no log in required)
http://www.globalcomplianceseminar.com/documents/standards/ISO-9001-2015-draft.pdf

Also note the ISO harmonization plan.

Of note from section 3 of the Draft: "The Annex SL terms are currently incorporated to assist reviewers of the draft. At the moment there is no agreement to incorporate such terms in ISO 9001, and they will be removed later into ISO 9000. Any comments received on the terms and definitions will be forwarded for SC1 to review.” Emphasis mine.

ISO 9000:2005 (Fundamentals of quality management systems) is the current revision level. Since it has the definitions in it, if changes are made in ISO 9001:2015 ISO 9000:2005 will have to be updated (I would assume).

Does anyone here know the status of an intended revision of ISO 9000?

I don't see any estimate on a release date. I wonder that will play out if they do revise some definitions.

I know there are links to several "reviews" (so to speak) of the anticipated changes in the ISO 9001:2015 Draft - Status thread. I'm going to have to re-read them. Today was the first time I opened the draft I have and started looking it over.

I suspect that they will release ISO 9000:2015 almost simultaneously with ISO 9001:2015. The balloting for the documents is "synchronized", for the time being. Just a week apart.

Remember that some of the terminology/definitions will be harmonized, in accordance with the High Level Structure, so some of the terms currently defined in ISO 9000 might no longer be there, when the next revision is released.

It will be interesting what that will mean for the ISO Online Browsing Platform. Right now if you search for definitions of the word quality there, there are 38 different definitions.....:mg:

I see this version of ISO 9001 leading to a high number of requests for TC 176 to clarify requirements. A good example is found in 4.2. This clause contains a number of new terms such as direct customer, end users, distributors, retailers etc. without giving a clear definition.

Also who snuck in ?Human Factors? into the Clause 7.1.3 Note?

By the way if I have process what are the ?main processes? referenced in Clause 4.3? :notme:

They certainly would benefit with a better definition for "process". I suspect the "main processes" is what some now call "business processes" or "core processes".

As far as I can tell, the standard currently uses processes in two contexts. In the beginning of 4.1, I think it appears they are talking about business processes. Later in 4.1, when talking about outsourcing, and in 7.5.2 when talking about "special processes" it appears more likely they are talking about manufacturing processes (how you make something).

But why not make it crystal clear?

Hi folks,
short question: The quality manual (4.2.2) is going to be excluded in 2015 version?
I was looking the draft but I could not find it.

Thank you for clarifying, I was looking and looking and thought I was missing something, other than glasses... Someone has posted a very nice gap analysis between the current and draft standards though, I found it in the attachments. Better than nothing!
