Dear all,

I have a discuss with "Supplier" for ISO9001:2008 (7.4.1)
I understand supplier mean who are support all thing related quality. e.g Raw Material, calibration etc.

Question is some supplier e.g. stationary (Pen, Table) shall be registered to ASL (Approved Supplier List) and follow up by process. (Selection, Evaluate, Re- evaluate etc.

Now all supplier in my company. I shall do this.

thank you

Re: supplier evaluation for 7.4.1 (ISO9001)

Only purchased goods or services that have a quality system impact need to be on the ASL. For example;

Office Max - supplying general office supplies - No
Office Max - supplying printing services for IFU's - Yes

I would also suggest that when in doubt, take the conservative approach and add them to the ASL.

Approved Supplier List is not a requirement of IS 9001. It could become a requirement if the organization establishes to have when it sets the process.
My suggestion is to establish "criteria" for supplier, based upon the "risk" assessment of what they provide.
In synthesis, put in place a "process"

So follow existing process or write a process for it that is based on the risk of poor goods or services from your supplier creating poor goods or services from you to your customer.

If you want to use ASL then assess all your suppliers, those that could affect your finished product's quality in a negative way get further assessment and entered onto the ASL. Those of lesser impact basically could just be monitored but doesn't need as much assessment.

We have general consumables that can be bought quickly from a wide number of suppliers. These don't go on ASL. The ones that do are basically the critical ones where the materials supplied form the bulk of our products or where we can't buy them off the shelf elsewhere if needed. These go on the ASL. We assess these further.

Basically you have a lot of freedom in how you approach this I think. What works for your organization.
