Internal Audit During the Transition Period from ISO9001:2008 to ISO9001:2015

I have a question in regards of the Internal Audit Schedule for the Current ISO9001:2008 as we are starting our transition to ISO9001:2015.

-Do we need to continue with our Current Schedule while we are working with the update to ISO9001:2015?

You need to make the call, but there are a couple of things you need to consider:

1) Your system is currently certified to 9001:2008, so you need to ensure that it continues to meet that standard.

2) When your CB auditors come to audit to 9001:2015 they will need to see evidence that you have audited all of the requirements of the new standard.

When is the transition audit to 2015 scheduled? Do you have any more CB audits to 9001:2008 before you transition?

Hi Howste
Thank for your reply. Audit is schedule for March 2018 and yes we are currently certified to ISO9001:2008
Our plan is to have the transition ready by the end of 3rd quarter and then do the Full Internal Audit for ISO9001:2015
:thanx:

If the internal audit is a process based audit, and the process has implemented the new requirements, audit to the new requirements. If the process has not implemented the 2015 requirements, audit to the 2008 standard and conduct a gap assessment at the same time.

IMO.

You should be doing it now and not drag it out, just compare what you presently do and if it matches up with requirements in 9K15, document it and move on.

Not that much has really changed...How do I know? I'm doing a Transition audit right now and these for barely changed anything and they're doing fine.

Get past the hype, the BS, hand wringing and tear shedding and get it done, you'll be surprised.

I am in the same boat. We are scheduled for June, I have stopped doing the scheduled 2008 internal audits. In favor of a full blown 2015 audit. Am I missing something???
I figure, what is the use if 2008 will be of zero consequence by Sept... No?

Randy;

I agree - they (those in power) have created a monster that is hiding in the closet but when you open the door is really a nice teddy bear... yes, minor changes to the vocabulary and a lot of vagueness and repetitive requirements.

As far as the audit, you should be auditing to the latest revision.

Not sure why you are not doing it but why open the door for the auditor to peek inside your closet!

Hard to say. What WERE you doing? For example, I see people doing ONE internal audit/year under 2008. That's not good, not for 2008 nor 2015. Why do a "full blown" audit for 2015? Very little has changed. Audit what you did to meet what was changed...?

Really? What's vague? What's repetitive? How is a "monster" created with "minor changes to vocab"? I'm left wondering if you have implemented it, to come to this conclusion? I have implemented the requirements many times in 206/2017. Nothing here which is monstrous. What I HAVE seen is stupid stuff, done to meet 2008 dismantled...

So, March 2018 is for ISO 9001:2008 surveillance, then you have to start all over again for 2015 preparation? This is not efficient. Regarding this September is a last call for ISO 9001:2008.. In my opinion:
1. Do gap assessment and fulfill the ISO 9001:2015 requirements implementation immediately
2. Skip the Internal Audit 2008 based, then do Internal Audit 2015 based for upgrading re-certification preparation

Good luck
