This is from an article from Quality World, December 2003.

It looks like the US is on the bottom. I know this is a bit dated... But...

World wide total of ISO 9001:2002 certificates

Comments? Anyone have any newer statistics?

Marc, I believe that the chart was for ISO 9001:2000 certificates ONLY. If you included the 1994 based certificates, the numbers would be very different.

Sidney-

Thanks for posting a link to the entire article, it usually helps when we look at the complete picture. :)

Sidney, the chart above is the same chart on page 4 of the 12th cycle survey and you're right - it is only 9001:2000 certificates.

I believe the US's neighbour to the north has fewer registrations...so I ask this....

Which information is more informative - The total number of registrations to ISO 9001:2000 or the percentage that have transitioned?

My guess is that it all depends on what a person wishes to do with the information. :)

So, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of comments were you hoping to get with this thread, Marc? Comments on why North America appears to be lacking in the numbers when compared to other nations? ;)

Good question Roxanne - as another Canadian, I was always amazed at how the gross US registration numbers were more than Canada's, but percentage wise, Canada seemed to match the rest of the world more than the US (for 1994 data anyway - I have not seen any other 2000 data)

An updated percentage list would be interesting to see.

Cheers!

Welcome to the Cove, fellow Canuck! :bigwave:

If you go to Quality Digest's website, they might have some updated North American numbers for transition #'s and %'s.
