Thank You! Suggest a Lean Book for Upper Management

Hi there,

I had a request from my manager to check for a book on Lean.
The purpose of it is to make the senior management aware on what Lean can do for the organisation and what it means in broad lines.

Me myself I only have in depth handbooks.

It must NOT be a book that is obvious "for dummies" , that will give the wrong idea... if you know what I mean .

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Re: Suggest a Lean Book for Upper Management

I've had good results with either of these three books. They are written in story format which is easier to absorb then 'dry' books on what to do. They get the message across by addressing common concerns and resistance in a straightforward manner. all three are by the same authors: Freddy Balle and Michael Balle. The first one has a 'study guide' if you want to take a 'book club' approach.

The Gold Mine: A Novel of Lean Turnaround
The Lean Manager: A Novel of Lean Transformation
Lead With Respect: A Novel of Lean Practice

Re: Suggest a Lean Book for Upper Management

You (or perhaps your Manager) may want to consider what the various Manager's learning styles are - if they are directed to read the book then it doesn't matter, but if not you might put together (alternatively or supplementally) youtube video links or find out if the book you select is available digitally or on CD.

Re: Suggest a Lean Book for Upper Management

One of the newer books, geared towards upper management, is "The Lean Turnaround" by Art Byrne.

Re: Suggest a Lean Book for Upper Management

My latest recommendation would be Creating a Lean Culture, 3rd Edition by David Mann. One of the most practical out there, that I have found.
