What I did previously and what I am currently asking to supplier is to provide me with an Excel file very simple.
Row = Name of your people (picture why not?)
Column (1st) = Skills - this is the most critical one. You have to be specific and detail enough to have a difference between team members. EAch tasks HAS specific knowledge attached to it.
Once you have the frame, you have several choices on how to fill it depending on the level of info you want from the matrix.
- tick to say competant or not
- square with shading
*ALL blank = no training
*1 quarter black = in training
*half black = trained but still need some advices
*3 quarter blac = Fully trained
*All black = Can train other
- score depending on the difficulties / speciality of the knowledge (used for pay review ie: you know less but specialised could be equal to you know a lot but superficial)
